Taking A Chance is a delightful love story that takes place, in Carefree, Montana, five miles outside the magical waters of Whisper Creek.
Emma Winthrop has been trying to impress her parents, for forever. She’s been climbing the corporate ladder at Galway Health for ten years. When she was called into the office, Emma was sure it was for a promotion, but instead of getting a new office, she was handed a temporary nursing home assignment in Montana. Emma had a masters degree in Health Administration but knew very little, about the day to day, decisions of running a nursing home. She was hoping that her inexperience wouldn’t be blatantly obvious to the staff. It was. Emma would discover, though, that keeping her heart from breaking was much more difficult, than being a nursing home administrator.
Jasper Stone owned a coffee shop, in downtown Carefree Montana. He was also the go-to-person for anyone who needed help; such as, caring for kittens, or cooking a meal at Shady Acres nursing home. Jasper believed that he had a lot to atone for, especially in the romance dept. He never wanted to destroy a woman’s life again. So when Emma Winthrop walked into his life and stole his heart, Jasper was beside-himself. He wanted Emma desperately but knew that he could never have her.
Jasper and Emma, both carried unresolved guilt, and couldn’t enjoy life to the fullest, because of it. Self-forgiveness is many times much harder than forgiving another person. Whisper Creek, however, is a magical place of healing. Some say the magic is in the air and the mountains, others say it’s the friendliness of the staff and horseback riding. But the people from Whisper Creek will tell you that the secret is in the water. I loved both of these characters. It was heartwarming to watch Jasper and Emma, grow and blossom. Maybe, Whisper Creek truly is an enchanted place for healing the soul.
Taking A Chance is a touching story. It’s a light, wholesome heartfelt romance. Thank you, Random House Publishing- Loveswept and NetGalley, for my advance review copy.
