This little story had been a staple of my childhood holidays, and I’m so grateful I was able to find the book at my mom’s and bring it home for my children.
The story focuses on the three kings (Melchior, Balthasar, and Jaspar) and Balthasar’s family, his wife Iris and daughter Delphinia. (Kudos to the author for the brilliant workings of her imagination!!) Delphinia is in her mid teens or so.
All three kings spot the star from their fictitious kingdoms (Balthasar’s is called Godolia) and head out to follow it with their retinues– they know exactly how groundbreaking this moment in time is.
The story hits all the key historical points, but in such a new, accessible way for children and their families to enjoy. I highly recommend it if you’ve got or have children in your life. You will all enjoy this holiday reading experience. Blessings!
