The Physiology of Liberalism

Typically when the word “liberal” is used in the American sense, people assume it to mean those who are placed towards the “left” of the political spectrum as opposed to the conservative “right.” However, Liberalism has a much deeper and longer history that even precedes the founding of the United States of America, therefore the term liberal I am using is in the sense of Liberal Society such as the United States and much of Western Europe. The founding father of Liberalism is John Locke who was an English empiricist and philosopher advocating for something known as Natural Rights. Natural Rights include Life, Liberty and Property (although there are differing variations, however the underlying principle is similar.) Liberalism is thought to have been founded on the ideals of Natural Rights, Liberty, Equality, and cooperation. However this is only to look at the surface of what Liberals purport to be instead of observing the subterranean elements which paved the way for these concepts.

In my understanding, Liberalism, like many beliefs and constructs, was founded out of fear. Fear of what precisely? The fear of the Savage, the Primal, the very mereologies of nature and within. The Liberal is afraid of a universe devoid of societal order, they ardently defend a community of personas, despite many of them claiming to be “individualists.” When a Liberal refers to himself as such an individualist, one must not make the error of thinking that he advocates for personal autonomy from tyranny, rather he wishes to construct something that will be able to defend himself from the primal. The savagery of Nature is tyrannical by the logic of Liberalism, it is filled with one thing overpowering another to gain an upper hand. So when a Liberal refers to himself as an “individualist, what he really means is he himself wants to transcend or leave this savagery.

But what does he use to transcend nature with? The answer is simple: fables. Just like Plato’s “Noble Lie,” the Liberal constructs arbitrary concepts to both mask and overcome the tyranny of existence.  These plastic concepts come in many forms such as the notion of a citizen, equality, natural rights, democracy, capitalism, etc. They even adopt an Orwellian strategy when constructing these such as Natural Rights, which ironically is a construction to overcome the Natural World. Natural Rights is a “heresy” against Mother Nature, nothing in the universe has an obligation to recognize that other beings have a right to Life, Liberty and Property (Happiness). These conceptions of idyllic rights also bleed into the concept of “equality.” People like to think equality means things are “fair” or that everyone has the same starting point and ends if they simply work within the realm of “Natural Rights.” Yet if one observes the history of the Western World, one can easily see the hilarious hypocrisy of such a notion. Many Western Liberal Societies did not abolish slavery well into the 19th century, and even then, racial discrimination and oppression was still apparent. In truth, equality is a divisive concept which attempts to organize people deserving of “Natural Rights” or not, and those who do not have rights do not have them because they offended a particular power, therefore they are caste out of the privilege of “equality.” The equalization of society which is most popular today is not an attempt to make things “fair” because it is impossible, its true intentions are to numb humanity out of their inner savage and tyrant so that they will make more formidable slaves to these fables themselves. In essence, trading the primal for the “civilized.”

Deep within the abysses of every man knows that these concepts are simply constructs to turn away from the instinctual primal, they are not real and one week in the chaos of the natural universe would back this claim up. I believe the Liberal even has a mythological word for this conceptual denial, yes, they call it the “Social Contract.”

My next point is about the subject of capitalism, which is a required foundation for many Liberal societies although capitalism is not practiced solely by the Liberal world. The economic invention conceived by Adam Smith was almost an attempt to take the primal, tyrannical energy within every man and to direct towards a milder manifestation we call capitalism. The Free Market is the Law of the Jungle, Competition is the struggle to overpower one another and Capital is power itself. Although capitalism itself is not life-denying in the sense of the other concepts, it does something beyond what the natural universe does and produces something called consumers. We now live in an almost slavish society where people are chained to trends, money and plasticities. Although it did direct many primal energies and wills towards a concept in an effort to stay true to nature, it also created arbitrates in itself and in turn, weakness. Therefore the problem of capitalism does not lie in the fable itself but the race of dependent, weak men it creates.

Although the Classical Liberalism of John Locke is starting to fade out, Social Liberalism and other similar manifestations are starting to take its place. Modern man is now convinced that dishonest concepts can protect him from the inner primal within and on the outside. The Noble Lie is beginning to crank up to ten with the obsession of many Liberals over mère concepts such as “Political Correctness,” “Safe Spaces,” “Illegeal Aliens,” etc.

In essence, Liberalism is a system of arbitrary concepts  with the purpose of satisfying the fear of the Savage , the Primal. I am not advocating for the destruction of Liberalism per say nor offering an alternative political structure. In honesty I would prefer living in Liberal society since it is easy to maneuver and manipulate around compared to other governments. However my point is that people of higher ambitions should not feel chained down by the byproducts of Liberalism and should not feel threatened to suppress their inner “Savage” for the sake of reinforcing a “Civilization,” i.e. watered-down mediocrity .
