review 1: This book was engrossing and engaging - I found myself almost as confused as the main character, laying over different motivations for the characters, rewriting the plot - my brother currently has brain cancer and has short term memory loss, so some of this was enlightening (altho he isn't nearly as bad at recall as Chrissy was in the book). I sort of figured it out, but then was shocked at the way the ending sped to an abrupt halt. Book was really good but the ending was disappointing - thought that a more "up in the air" conclusion (ala Gone Girl) might have been more appropriate to the somewhat brooding, dark plot. I recommend this book, tho, so I can talk to someone about it!!
review 2: I just loved this - it's one of those books I didn't want to stop rea... moreding, and would think about when I wasn't. To begin with, I just love stories about memory and other strange psychological disorders. I was also drawn right in by the slow-burn mystery, trying to figure out the truth about Christine's past, and her present. The ending, while possibly a little trite, was also quite satisfying, and I hadn't guessed what was going to happen, which is always nice. A side note - I don't think I'll be seeing the movie; from the preview I saw, it looks pretty terrible. less
