top 8 book recommendations

hi guys, 2nd blog!

so I thought as its nearing summer, and people are preparing to take off on a plane to somewhere exotic, I gathered it’d be a good idea to recommend books that’ll bring you joy to read next to the roaring waves, in the blaring sun as you sip on a cocktail and list my top 10 favourite books!

coming at 8th place, in my favourite books, is Glass houses by Rachel Caine- £3.20 (WHSmiths)

blurb:

Morganville is a small town filled with unusual characters – when the sun goes down, the bad comes out. in Morganville, there is an evil that lurks in the darkest shadows – one that will spill out into the bright light of day.

For Claire Danvers. high school was hell, but college may be murder. it was bad enough that she got on the wrong side of Monica, the meanest of the school’s mean girls, but now she’s got three new roommates, who all have a secret of their own. And the biggest secret of all isn’t really a secret, except from Claire: Morganville is run by vampires, and they are hungry for fresh blood…

originally I got this book in a magazine, a long time ago, however after reading a few pages, this book had me hooked. if you like things like the vampire diaries and Twilight, then you will definitely like this, it is filled with suspense, and overall is one of my favourites for a quick read! there are currently 12 books for the whole series, as far as I am aware, so if you are looking for a series of hooking books, to read. then I would definitely recommend checking these books out! you can buy glass houses, the dead girl’s dance, midnight alley and feast of fools. all for £7.19, which I think is a bargain!

coming in 7th place is, Angel Cake by Cathy Cassidy- £5.24 (WHSmiths)

blurb:

Anya used to dream of moving to Britain to start a brand new life. but as she sits in a school where nobody understands her, she dreams of polish summer skies and the place where she once belonged.

then Anya meets bad boy Dan. he’s no angel, but she’s sure there’s a sweeter side to him. and when things start to fall apart, Anya realizes she’s not alone – how can Dan be such bad news, when being with him feels like heaven?

I bought this book back when I was a small 9-year-old. almost 7 year ago. and I still enjoy reading this book. even at nearly 16 years of age, I will still read this book. even though the book is a childs book. if you’re looking for a book to read yourself, or simply just a book for your younger family member, I would definitely recommend this book. I feel like this book shows that even when everything is falling apart, and youre at a struggling time, there is still a bright side of the rainbow, and everything will get better. All of Cathy Cassidy’s books are amazing to say the least. all her books have something at least one person would like. I assure you that you wont waste a read with one of her books.

coming at 6th place, is Harry potter and the cursed child – £20

blurb:

it was always difficult being harry potter, and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee at the ministry of magic, a husband, and a father to three school-aged children.

while harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with a family legacy he never wanted. as past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places.

on release day of this book, I waited outside of WHSmiths for 4 hours to make sure I received my pre-ordered copy. part of me regrets waiting for that long, as the play was more like a FanFiction than a carry on from what happened nineteen years later. however it is still a good read. definitely not what I was expecting, not at all. but I loved it non the less. I would recommend this book, to a lot of people, but I suggest you only read it after reading all harry potter books, so you understand what is happening!

coming in 5th place is, the scrapbook of my life by Alfie Deyes. £10.49 (WHSmiths)

blurb:

Hey guys, I’m Alfie and welcome to The Scrapbook of My Life!

Inside this book you’ll read all about the day I was born and what it was like growing up with my family in Brighton. Read stories from my childhood and teen years, right up until present day, and, of course, all about how my crazy YouTube journey began and my thoughts on what the future holds. I’ve had some amazing adventures and met some awesome people along the way, and like everything I do I wanted to share it all with you.

Oh and how could I forget to tell you that you can also join in and create your own scrapbook next to mine? Just fill in the blank sections by writing down your memories, or any fun facts that you don’t want to forget. You can also stick your favourite photos or souvenirs to the pages, so that in many years to come you can look back on your own life!

this book is wrote by a youtuber, so if you don’t know who Alfie deyes, aka PointlessBlog is. then before you go and read this book, I suggest you fond out who he is first. I mean whats the point in learning about someone you don’t know? anyways for those that know who he is, then you know how amazing he is. there isn’t much to say about Alfie’s book, apart from that it is AMAZING and worth the read!

coming in 4th place is, girl online by Zoe sugg- £5.19 (WHSmiths)

blurb:

Penny has a secret.

Under the alias Girl Online, Penny blogs her hidden feelings about friendship, boys, high school drama, her crazy family, and the panic attacks that have begun to take over her life. When things go from bad to worse, her family whisks her away to New York, where she meets Noah, a gorgeous, guitar-strumming American. Suddenly Penny is falling in love – and capturing every moment of it on her blog.

But Noah has a secret, too, one that threatens to ruin Penny’s cover – and her closest friendship – forever.

so if you don’t know who Zoella is, I would definitely recommend you go give her channel a check out on Youtube. Any way, this is one of my favourite books, because I just love Penny’s character, she is a big inspiration, and I love reading the book as it just makes me really happy, to learn and develop with her character. if I were you I would definitely give this book a read!

coming in 3rd place is: Girl online on tour-  £5.59 (WHSmiths).

Blurb:

Penny’s bags are packed …When Noah invites Penny on his European music tour, she can’t wait to spend time with her rock-god-tastic boyfriend. But, between Noah’s jam-packed schedule, less-than-welcoming bandmates and threatening messages from jealous fans, Penny wonders whether she’s really cut out for life on tour. She can’t help but miss her family, her best friend Elliot …and her blog, Girl Online.

Can Penny learn to balance life and love on the road, or will she lose everything in pursuit of the perfect summer?

Again, another book by Zoella that I love, this book brings joy to my heart, Penny becomes more confident after a trip away with Noah, even if the trip doesn’t end well. I feel penny can relate to a lot of girls, and that is why I like it, many girls can learn from penny, and become stronger women because of it!

coming in 2nd place is: girl online going solo – £9.09 (WHSmiths)

blurb:

Penny’s life is back to normal. As Penny starts the school year she’s ready to face the world – alone. Noah has gone off the radar after ending his world tour early and no one, including Penny, knows where he is. So when she accepts Megan’s invitation to visit her performing arts school it seems like an opportunity to make some new friends.

Helping everyone else seems to be the right remedy. Elliot needs her friendship more than ever, and she meets Posey – struggling with stage fright and in need of support. But is charming Scottish boy Callum the right kind of distraction? And can Penny truly move on when Noah’s shadow seems to haunt her round every corner?

and unsurprisingly the 3rd book of the zoella series is on the list! I have a thing for these books, its shows that girls can achieve anything they want, if they try! from a bloggers perspective, the books inspire me to write, even if you hit a rough patch. Elliot is another of my favourite characters, as he is such a cool chic character, that is so easily loved, and at the same time, you feel sorry for him, as he has trouble with his parents accepting his sexuality. I would recommend this book a lot.

coming in the almighty 1st  place is: the harry potter book series – £38.99 (WHSmiths)

blurb:

philosophers stone: Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry’s eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

chamber of secrets: Harry Potter’s summer has included the worst birthday ever, doomy warnings from a house-elf called Dobby, and rescue from the Dursleys by his friend Ron Weasley in a magical flying car! Back at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for his second year, Harry hears strange whispers echo through empty corridors – and then the attacks start. Students are found as though turned to stone …Dobby’s sinister predictions seem to be coming true.

prisoner of Azkaban: When the Knight Bus crashes through the darkness and screeches to a halt in front of him, it’s the start of another far from ordinary year at Hogwarts for Harry Potter. Sirius Black, escaped mass-murderer and follower of Lord Voldemort, is on the run – and they say he is coming after Harry. In his first ever Divination class, Professor Trelawney sees an omen of death in Harry’s tea leaves …But perhaps most terrifying of all are the Dementors patrolling the school grounds, with their soul-sucking kiss

Goblet of fire: The Triwizard Tournament is to be held at Hogwarts. Only wizards who are over seventeen are allowed to enter – but that doesn’t stop Harry dreaming that he will win the competition. Then at Hallowe’en, when the Goblet of Fire makes its selection, Harry is amazed to find his name is one of those that the magical cup picks out. He will face death-defying tasks, dragons and Dark wizards, but with the help of his best friends, Ron and Hermione, he might just make it through – alive!

order of the phoenix: Dark times have come to Hogwarts. After the Dementors’ attack on his cousin Dudley, Harry Potter knows that Voldemort will stop at nothing to find him. There are many who deny the Dark Lord’s return, but Harry is not alone: a secret order gathers at Grimmauld Place to fight against the Dark forces. Harry must allow Professor Snape to teach him how to protect himself from Voldemort’s savage assaults on his mind. But they are growing stronger by the day and Harry is running out of time

half-blood prince: When Dumbledore arrives at Privet Drive one summer night to collect Harry Potter, his wand hand is blackened and shrivelled, but he does not reveal why. Secrets and suspicion are spreading through the wizarding world, and Hogwarts itself is not safe. Harry is convinced that Malfoy bears the Dark Mark: there is a Death Eater amongst them. Harry will need powerful magic and true friends as he explores Voldemort’s darkest secrets, and Dumbledore prepares him to face his destiny.

Deathly Hallows: As he climbs into the sidecar of Hagrid’s motorbike and takes to the skies, leaving Privet Drive for the last time, Harry Potter knows that Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters are not far behind. The protective charm that has kept Harry safe until now is now broken, but he cannot keep hiding. The Dark Lord is breathing fear into everything Harry loves, and to stop him Harry will have to find and destroy the remaining Horcruxes. The final battle must begin – Harry must stand and face his enemy.

harry potter played a big part of my life as a child, and as a teen. the story is just hooking, the minute you start reading it you all of a sudden have to read them all, which is why I linked the box set rather than individual. harry is a rule breaker, but everything he does, in the end adds up and helps him defeat the dark lord. I love harry potter, and it makes me happy anytime I hear of it, or I read/ watch it. and im certain it will have the same effect on you as the reader!

anyway, that is the end of this blog, I hope from this you find something enjoyable to read! in the comments below, list all the books you recommend, maybe I will read them, and list them in the next book recommendation blog! as always thank you for reading, and I hope to hear from you again soon!
