I stumbled across a little movie on Netflix, and I really liked it.
“It’s a start.”
Fucking adorable. An unassuming, breezy, laugh-a-minute adventure that gently gives way to old fashioned romanticism. This totally sneaks up on you. There’s nothing remarkable about the way it opens, and yet before you know it you’re completely invested in the intertwined fates of these two hapless souls. Callum Turner and Grace Van Patten exude a natural, easygoing chemistry most studio-backed rom-com leads would die to possess. They sell this love story with a mere look.
It’s a little slight, but given the limited resources on hand I’d mark this one as a hugely successful feat of indie filmmaking from Adam Leon. ‘Boy meets girl for the millennial era’ sounds obnoxious as hell, so it’s to everyone involved’s credit they manage to make it so damn likeable. Thank god for this poster because without it I probably never would’ve given this a shot. Hey, movie marketing does work! Bright colours are cooool!
