“Every thought we think is creating our future.” -Louise Hay

Keep this in mind whenever you are wondering about the power of your thoughts.

In life, you will have at least one time in your life where you will have a
second thought about someone or something. There may be plenty of reasons why you would have the second thought, but understand that depending on how you act upon that second thought will affect your future as you know it.

Today’s inspiration is all about the second thought. We will take a look at the following:

  • What is a second thought?
  • What are three things that can go wrong with your second thought?
  • What are three ways that you can make good use of your second thought?

Now that we have the questions, let’s find the answers!

What is a second thought?

Merriam-Webster defines a second thought as…

  • A feeling of guilt, doubt, worry, etc., that you have after you have decided to do something or after something has happened.

A second thought simply comes up after you have regrets about the first thought and decision that you made.

What are three things that can go wrong with your second thought?

Your second thought can prove to be costly if causes you to do one of the following three things below:

  • It thinks you out of your golden opportunity that is in front of you.
    • Second thoughts can cause you rethink and turn down the opportunity that is front of you.
    • This could happen with love, employment, finances, or anything that has the potential to change your life.
  • It thinks you out of taking a chance on yourself.
    • Second thoughts can also make you rethink and turn down taking on the unknown.
    • As scary as the unknown may appear, you would never know the outcome until you give that first thought and decision a try.
  • It thinks you into negativity.
    • Your second thought can think you into a negative space and it can affect people around you.
    • When you think yourself into negativity, you will start to never trust your initial instincts and first thoughts.
  • When your second thoughts are causing you problems in your life, do not give up yet. It is time to see how you can rebound and use your second thoughts to your advantage.

What are three ways that you can make good use of your second thought?

Not all the time are second thoughts are bad. In fact, there are moments where it is good for you to have a second thought about what you are doing. Here are three ways that you can make use of your second thought:

  • Use your second thought to get yourself out of a bad situation.
    • If your first thought and actions have led or is leading you into a bad situation, it would be good to have and use your second thought to get out of the sticky situation.
    • When you have opportunity for the second thought in that situation, use it to think of the consequences and find ways to either make that situation better or get out of it all together.
  • Use your second thought to review and confirm what you are doing.
    • There is nothing wrong with using your second thought to reaffirm what you are doing.
    • If you do have the time to have one, use your second thought to look over and evaluation what you are doing so that you can ensure that you are able to keep on doing what you are doing.
  • Use your second thought to start living.
    • If you are living your life uptight and conservative, it may be time to use your second thought to add some spice to your life and start living.
    • Use your second thought to think of awesome things you can do and places you can go that will bring something new and memorable to our life.
  • Your second thought can prove to be beneficial as long as you use it to your advantage.

I encourage you to take the time to remember the last time you had a second thought about someone or something. You will find that your second thought will either lead to something positive or negative depending on the situation and circumstances involved. Let’s remember that your second thought has the ability to make change in your life, but it is up to you to determine how it will work in your life.

I have six questions that I would love for you to give some thought. Feel free to answer and comment below:

  • Can you recall the last time you had a second thought about someone or something?
  • What made you decide to have the second thought?
  • What did you ultimately decided to do after having the second thought?
  • What was/were the result(s) of your actions after the second thought?
  • How did that second thought affect you moving forward?
  • What would you recommend to someone who is having second thoughts?
  • Your answers and comments can help someone understand that when you do use your second thought to your advantage, it can help you stay on the right path and achieve your goals.
