What we should expect with stress

I have the joy of taking Lifetime Wellness since I am a freshman. I played sports in high school and have always been fairly active, but I do not particularly enjoy this class. Mostly because it consists of sprinting and lectures. The lecture subjects range from exercise, weight loss, a healthy diet and a healthy lifestyle.

This week our lecture was about stress. We specifically talked about how to manage stress and what it does to your body. This is something that most college students fail at every day. I am sorry if that is a little harsh, but can you disagree with that? We have to fit 12 or more hours of class, studying, social time, sleep and so much more into our small week. Everybody knows time management is a struggle in college; it’s almost like you can’t have it all.

If you learn how to manage your stress and manage your time, things will get easier, and weights will be lifted off your shoulders. My favorite way to manage my stress, besides getting sleep, is planning out all the details of my day. I like to write down the times I am going to do certain homework and stick with that. I know I have time for it and I know it will get done. If you don’t have a plan, then you won’t reach your goal.

Having a detailed plan makes things easier, but it won’t always work. You will have times that you don’t finish assignments at a decent time and this can result in a lot of stress. You will fail trying to manage your time, and that’s OK. You will learn what works for you and what doesn’t. It will end up helping you in the long run. It will end up being a success.

How do you manage with your stress? Let me know in the comments!
