review 1: I've only read this once before and it became one of my favourite books straight away. It was good to read again because I really couldn't remember what happens except for that she's a vampire who has become human again, after 600 years.I really enjoyed reading how different being human was compared to being a vampire, and I adore all the other bits in explaining some of what goes on being being vampire (the bonds between the coven, not being bound to hurt who you love, the magic in the pores of the vampires skin). It's also nice to see a female role being in charge because it's like the opposite of Twilight in how she wants to become human again and how Bella wants to become a vampire.I can't wait to read the others, that I'll be buying when I'm not saving up for anything... more. I'm desperate to see what happens next because if she's burnt herself up in this one, why are there 2 more books? I've heard that Justin becomes a vampire and it's absolutely evil as it (aren't they all?) so I'm wondering how that comes about so I'll just have to wait and see.I'll be adding more things if I think of them.
review 2: Bisogna mettersi dal punto di vista dei non umani per apprezzare davvero la bellezza della vitaùLenah, l'ex vampira che rinasce alla vita dopo secoli di dannazione, con le sue sensazioni e la novità dell'essere di nuovo umana, canta un inno alla vita e all'umanità per tutte le pagine del libro. Una vita fatta di sensazioni, di profumi, sapori, tatto ed emozioni... riscoperte ed elogiate. Una vita in cui il cibo ha un sapore, un bacio si sente sulle labbra e una carezza dà calore o provoca la pelle d'oca, una vita in cui la gelosia brucia, l'amore fa volare, l'amicizia conforta e la musica emoziona. Una vita in cui il passato incombre come una minaccia ma non impedisce la rinascita. Una vita in cui il male si converte al bene, con l'innocenza di una persona appena nata, che non sa che sensazione dia il sole che scalda la pelle, come sia nuotare o che sensazioni provochino la pioggia e il vento. A volte è difficile far combaciare le due metà: quella della protagonista del passato e quella del presente, ma questa è forse l'unica pecca del libro. La scrittura è scorrevole, con una storia che rimescola in maniera originale i classici elementi del genere, riuscendo a stupire nel suo finale. E, per essere una trilogia dichiarata in partenza, ha l'ottimo pregio di essere un libro con un signor finale. Se non si dicesse che la storia continuerà non lo avrei supposto, sembra un romanzo autoconclusivo. less
