review 1: So Lenah is miraculously human now, and can continue on with her life. However, after performing such spells, there is a price to pay. Rhode comes back and he and Lenah are to never fall in love again or they will be transported back to the centuries in which they were born. That is their consequence. Problems don't end there...Odette is a very powerful vampire created by Lenah, and she seeks the spell. She has come to Wickham, and threatens Lenah. She will stop at nothing to gain power and kills many people on the Wickham campus causing fear and chaos. Lenah, Rhode, Vicken, and Justin all team up to try to take Odette down, occasionally meeting with Suleen. Secrets are kept and unexpected events occur. Close friends are killed, Justin becomes a traitor and a vampire, Odet... morete is defeated, and Lenah makes a tremendous request. Rhode and Lenah are soul mates, but their company together is not in the cards. Unfortunately. This is why I gave this book 4 stars. I was disappointed by the ending. I really, really wanted to have Lenah and Rhode end up together. Instead, she goes back with knowledge, Rhode lives on without it, and Vicken has not yet been born. I guess one could say it is understandable, but I was nevertheless sad. Still, I love these books! I really felt the pain...and the everlasting love. The fear, the suspense. The grand, rich memories. And it was amazing to read :) I definitely recommend this series!
review 2: I have to admit that I struggled with this one, though I don't think it had anything to do with the writing or the writer, but rather with my own personal taste. This is actually the sequel to a book titled "Infinite Days." That book introduces us to a 600-year-old former-vampire called Lenah. She had found her way back to being human thanks to magic. She settled into a small town called Lovers Bay, Massachusetts, and became a student at Wickham Boarding School. She thought she could escape into being a teenager and being normal again, but her vampire life came rushing back when her coven wanted her to take back a leadership goal. In the process, lots of humans and vampires lost their lives, and she finds herself, once again, a human and mourning the lost of Rhode her vampire love. Now, she is joined with her good friend Vicken, who has a hard time mixing with her human friends, particularly her human boyfriend Justin. Things quickly go bad when a vampire she turned centuries ago is back because she wants Lenah to show her how to use magic. She is willing to do anything, including take down all of Lenah's friends, in the process. There is loads of action in this book, like the previous volume. I just struggled so much with the romantic elements of the book. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind romance, but I hate the constant whining and inability to make decisions. Get over it, girl. Youa re almost 600 hundred years old. Why are you still acting like a middle schooler. I definitely won't be reading a third book if there is one. less
