review 1: What a wonderful retelling of "Pride and Prejudice", I love vampire books and Jane Austen and Ms. Jeffers combined the two to create a masterful account of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth!! I was afraid to read this when I purchased it because I did not want my romantized vision of Mr. Darcy destroyed...but instead a new stronger Mr. Darcy emerged!! Elizabeth remaines headstrong and stubborn as in the original so I was thoroughly impressed with Ms. Jeffers ability to stay true to Ms. Austen's version yet tell a new story that both engrossed and spellbound me!! Thank you Ms. Jeffers, as with all your Austenesque books you hold true to the form but bring a whole new and exciting contemporary retelling of these wonderful masterpieces!!!
review 2: To be fair, I did not fin
... moreish this book. I read several chapters and was just too disgusted with the constant sexual comments and tone, so I didn't finish it. I do appreciate Ms. Jeffers' explanation about WHY she chose to write this book, and her desire to treat it with more respect than someone else might have. But the overt sexuality was just way too much, and I was upset and frustrated that Elizabeth was portrayed as someone who would happily kiss a man in secret and agree to carry on a romantic relationship with someone she never intended to marry. less
