review 1: This was fantastic. As someone who has read multiple re-tellings/continuations of Pride and Prejudice, this was by far one of the most unique examples. Normally when an author writes a re-telling of P&P they focus on different character perspectives (usually Darcy) and there is always a minor conflict or two that comes up along the way. This novel, however, focuses on a major conflict-in fact, it is the central point of the story. And it's a mystery! The whole deal is very reminiscent of Agatha Christie's "Ten Little Indians" story which happens to by my favorite AG mystery, so I was not surprised that I enjoyed this book. When I read the back, it promised to be intriguing and a bit sexy. It did not dissappoint. Jeffers walks the line between smut and romance perfectly, an... mored while she gives us a good glimpse of the more carnal aspects of Lizzy and Darcy's new marriage, she does not delve too deep and leaves them to their respective privacy. All in all I enjoyed this so much that I purchased the next P&P book she wrote.
review 2: I got this as a free ebook on my Nook and took a chance. Recently I decided to see just how awful this Austen-spinoff was. I found it lacking if you're going for authenticity, but if you simply take it as a separate book with familiar characters, it's not bad. I definitely did not expect the twist at the end. While I found this book charming enough and the price was right, I don't think I'll venture into any more "sequel to Austen" books. less
