review 1: If you like Regis Philbin, you may like his memoir. not exactly a memoir of his whole life but snippets of his life. Regis writes about what he has learned from the people he has met and known throughout his life. each chapter is about one of those persons. it could be anywhere from actor,actresses, people he has worked with such as Joey Bishop, Kathie lee , Kelly, to friends, wife Joy. His college Notre Dame. two years in the military.etc. Regis is quite generous and complimentary to all those person's who have touched his life or inspired him. this is not a mean spirited tell all type book. I like how Regis has given credit to those persons who have taught him life lessons. this is why he called his book " How I Got This Way" a sort of tribute to the people who have tou... moreched his life.
review 2: I thoroughly enjoyed this warm, funny and entertaining memoir. Regis is delightful. And so is his writing style. If you like learning about the past - our people, places and culture - you will find all you're looking for and more in this book. If you are interested in the entertainment industry you will like it even more. It's sad that the days of people interacting one on one are slipping away. Raw talent is not easily recognized. Too many are busy being walled off in their offices, cars and on their laptops and phones to pay attention to what lies right before them in their immediate world. When Regis was working toward his goal he could accomplish quite a bit using common sense and little bravery. Sure, luck plays a hand, but the harder you work, the luckier you are.
