review 1: "Castle" of course brought me to this book, and while I wouldn't add it to my permanent collection, it was a pretty solid mystery / police-procedural for a gloomy, October-morning read.Derrick Storm faked his own death in order to escape the high-stakes life of the CIA and live off-the-grid, content. His quiet life doesn't last long though when CIA covert operations director, Jedidiah Jones, calls in a long-reaching favor and brings him back to D.C. to investigate the kidnapping of a senator's son. Storm knows there's more going on behind the scenes than his former boss let's on, so with the help of talented FBI agent, April Showers, Storm must uncover the plot before he actually dies in the line of duty.Storm's covert skills and wry sense of humor make for a pretty enjoya... moreble character to follow on his travels. I find it especially amusing when he outsmarts Agent Showers just to make her mad because she's playing by the rules and he flagrantly flouts them. Like any good detective hero, Storm has a keen eye, special training, and the ability to think on his feet to solve emergencies. As far as deep character development and plot composition, the Derrick Storm books seem to be par for the course - not stellar but certainly entertaining. I'd recommend the Richard Castle books to fans of Vince Flynn, Lee Child, and other police-procedural, mystery writers.
review 2: This is book one of a trilogy that was put out by the fictitious author Richard Castle. Fans of ABC’s Castle will recognize the famed Derrick Storm as the savvy retired/deceased-CIA spy who had been “resurrected” to help with a kidnapping case. When Storm is pulled onto the case, he quickly discovers that there is more to it all than meets the eye. Part two will undoubtedly shed some more light onto the complex character of Derrick Storm – I just hope Clara Strike will make an appearance. less

So cheesy, yet I'll probably read the second and third books in the series!
