Nikki Heat
review 1: Richard Castle's Naked Heat was an interesting and capturing book, spiraling into very different directions. It fans from a hunt to catch a killer to a heating flame between lost lovers. Detective Nikki Heat is what a lot of girls aspire to be like. She catches the bad guys, gets the man of her dreams, and is famous for her handy work as a detective. She is caught up in her work and wants to hide from the flashing cameras and autographs that surround her whenever she is recognized in public. However, when a famous columnist Cassidy Towne is literally found stabbed in her back, Nikki's old lover Jameson Rook returns to town, Nikki tries her best to not get distracted. With Rook and her squad at her side, Nikki dives head first into a twisted game of cat and mouse. This book... more does a fantastic job when it came to incorporating love, danger, and mystery all into one. Although there are many mysteries happening at once in this book, that is what makes it so interesting. The reader can't just focus on one specific event. There are constant moments when the reader gets excited and thinks the killer is revealed, when in reality, the killer isn't revealed until the right moment. Richard Castle is a fantastic author in the sense that he is able to always keep the reader on his/her toes, waiting impatiently for his/her suspicions to be confirmed. There are a lot of characters in this book so if you're really interested in this book, I would advise you to keep some sort of tab or note on each character. It is very easy to get lost in the mix of characters, so paying close attention to what's going on is a key factor. If you're interested in a dangerous love story, then I would recommend this book to anybody. I gave this a solid four stars because of the fact that I always had to be reading this book. It kept me interested and looking forward to reading another 30 or 40 pages. I'm glad to say that this book really does turn up the Heat.
review 2: 2nd in series with Nikki Heat and Jamison Rook solving the murder of a rather despicable gossip columnist. She is writing a tell-all book about something others do not want brought out. It involves a stuck-on-herself pop star, a almost stuck-on-himself Yankee pitcher, the pitchers agent, an exclusive hotel's concierge, a limo driver, and the the columnist's down-on-her-luck daughter. Kind of formulaic, but an interesting read. less
