review 1: I was really looking forward to this book, the third part of the Blaine Family trilogy. What a disappointment it was. I just couldn't get involved in the story, which seemed turgid and plodding compared to the first two books. There was so much soul-searching, so much looking backward. The idea of Adam and Carla becoming soul mates was just too implausible, and the ending seemed rushed and trite. The conversations felted stilted and unrealistic. There were holes in the final story: what happened to the reporter, why was the DA so easily swayed? Not a very satisfactory ending to the saga.
review 2: This was the conclusion to this trilogy series. It was very well written and an enjoyable read. It was a tale of the the author Ben Blaine and his family. A taleof ... morebetrayal and love. This is a story about Adam Blaine, a CIA operative with field experience, who covers up how and why his famous father was killed.A fast read with lots of drama to hold your interest. The setting is Martha's Vinyard. Enjoy. less
