review 1: She is so good with leaving you hanging there, your emotions going haywire. This book definitely did that! I thought I would go crazy waiting for the newest installment, because that's the sort of impression this book - and the author - leaves. I loved it! I don't have anything bad to say. I'm emotionally connected to these characters and I feel like I'm in the story whenever I read it. It comes highly recommended by me and millions of others, I'm sure!
review 2: Somehow the Bloodlines Series is not as yummy as the Vampire Academy Series.I shall try to compare the characters as per my understanding.a) Rose and Sydney :-- Rose is impulsive and Sydney is a planner.- Rose is a fighter and Sydney is a problem solver.- Rose has the most unconventional background wit
... moreh a guardian with indeterminate faith as mother and Abe Muzur as father, where as, Sydney has been brought up in a strict family.- Rose, I always felt is one of the best heroines of the modern times. She has never waited for anyone to rescue her, not a damsel in distress like Bella in twilight. Sydney though is not a damsel either, I always found her to be missing that spark that Rose has.b) Dmitri and Adrian :-I love Dmitri's dark brooding looks and his serious demeanor. He speaks less and yet manages to convey everything that is important. On the other hand, Adrian has been brought up in an atmosphere of opulence and showed no depth of character in the early books. Later in the books, I started loving the witty Adrian and his comebacks. In many ways he is exactly like Rose, a smart mouth.I love Adrian, but, anytime I have to choose between Dmitri and Adrian, Dmitri wins hands down. Now why Dmitri and Rose's romance clicked and Adrian and Sydney's was a disappointment:-i) Both Dmitri and Rose fought against being together. In Adrian-Syndey case, only Sydney was fighting against falling for Adrian but Adrian was not. So, it was never a long awaited and anticipated coming together.ii) Why Rose fell for Dmitri or Dmitri fell for Rose was understandable. Both are strong people, mentally as well as physically, capable of saving each other. In Sydney and Adrian's case, I found both of them to be kind of weak and lacking determination. I still do not understand why Adrian suddenly became so devoted to Sydney. It's not like she did something to gain that devotion. iii) Moreover, Adrian-Sydney romance is very on the face kind of. Dmitri and Rose's romance was subtle and understated, burning below the surface but ready to die for each other kind of. Total swoon worthy. I loved the way Dmitri used to like Rose's hair and told her that their romance can't work because then instead of saving Lissa, he would have tried to save her.The Vampire Academy Series, written from Rose's perspective was witty and at times sarcastic and funny and romantic and everything I like in a book. Where as Bloodlines Series, written from both Sydney and Adrian's perspective is kind of boring.Another factor was the background events. Rose's life was all about vampires and friendships and high school and fighting Strigoi where as, Sydney's life is alchemist and Sydney's puny magic and Adrian's alcohol addiction. In Fiery Heart , Adrian-Sydney romance plays the major part. It has very little actual action. Sydney is trying to keep the alchemists from doubting her and Adrian is trying to be a better person. That's it. Just the ending was a bit beter. But still boring. less

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars!Great book! My favorite out of the series so far, well I have not read the next 2 yet. This series is getting more and more interesting and compelling and I just cannot get enough of this, especially Sydrian! I loved how Sydney and Adrian’s relationship progressed. Ah, they're perfect together. Simply perfect. When I first opened the book and saw Adrian’s name as the header of the chapter, I was so pumped because finally, a POV from Adrian! It was told I both their point of view. I’ve always wanted to know what goes in his head and it made me understand him more. I loved his voice so much and being inside his mind was thrilling and exciting and just totally amazing.Zoe though, so much hate for her. I’ve always despised her ever since how she reacted toward Sydney on Bloodlines. I hated her even more here. I understand where she is coming from, but damn, she is just so insecure and jealous that I just could not stand her anymore. And the part she played in the ending, *stab stab stab*.The ending was sooo insane. I always knew it was going to come down to that but never expected it to punch me in the face this soon. I wanna know what happens so badly, it got me so worried! I have the 5th book, but the 6th has yet to be released so I am trying so hard to not read it until then. I do not want to wait for many months before getting my hands on the sixth if I ever read the fifth now, my heart would not be able to take it so I‘m postponing it while I still can.

This is book #4 in the Bloodlines series. Lots of things are happening here, on fronts from all the various groups. But then people stop communicating, as they tend to do in books/movies/shows, and suddenly everything, predictably, starts going wrong, or, as Adrian quotes, The center cannot hold. At this point, which was near the end, I got a little fed up with the series and the people; so much of this was preventable. I took a break for a little bit, read some other things, then came back to it and finished it up. They're in a bad place for book number five, so I think I won't rush right in. What is slightly unbelievable, by the end here, is how easily everyone's thinking has changed. It might be realistic, given that these are all young people, and they've been living through things that would promote new thinking, and I'm not saying my thinking would not have changed as well, but when the one person, Sydney's sister Zoe, doesn't just abandon her (flawed) lifetime belief system in a couple of months, it's like it's some horrible thing. You can't expect change that quickly. This was still a good book and I'm looking forward to more in the series, after a short break.
