review 1: Although quite decompressed, this volume does a great job of providing great character moments for a variety of characters. Simultaneously, it tells a truly epic story, made the moreso by the very shocking issue #14.Unfortunately, it starts to go off the track in the later issues, as you increasingly realize that this story can't stand and there's going to be a big reset button at the end, making it all pointless.
review 2: Well, you don't see that every day in a comic book. Wonder what could possibly be next, now that Remender has effectively crashed everything? ... moreffshoots. The artwork is kind of variable--I wish they'd stick one superstar artist with one superstar writer and leave it at that. Can't think why there's so much turnover with an amazing title like this one. Steve McNiven is represented here to the largest degree and he's a really good fit with these characters and this plot. Larroca and Acuna aren't bad, but at an issue apiece, it's hard to really judge where they might have taken things. Really interested to see what might happen in the next volume, since the conclusion here is kind of final. How do you re-group from something like that? less
