Secret Avengers by Rick Remender
review 1: This is a good volume. Steve steps back and hands over the reigns to Hawkeye who is always fun. I'd love to watch him in just about anything.Beast is a wordy character that I really love when he's written well. He's hit or miss here. Hank Pym isn't quite neurotic enough, but still good. Venom doesn't get much screen time, but still awesome. Eric O'Grady is sad. I don't want him to be dead. Captain Britain is bit of a ponce, but fun.
review 2: Remender and Hardman's Secret Avengers takes me back to the days of when I loved reading the Avengers as a kid. None of this crappy major crossover events. Good writing, good art. Characterizations that remind you (rather than alienate you) from your favorite characters. I also like the inventiveness of the creators.
... more Instead of making Norman Osborn into something he's clearly never been, this team comes up with their own villains (or lesser-known ones) and does fun things with them. The current issue (Aug 2012) with Venom (who I normally hate) vs. the Taskmaster (among others) is so good I read it twice back-to-back. less
