review 1: I've read a lot of Robert Crais, Elvis and Joe are awesome, however neither of them are in this book. This book really moved me, the plight of Maggie the dog and Scott James was very poignant, the crime/mystery sort of took a back seat to that, which was not a problem since the rest of it was very engrossing. I really liked the way Crais wrote Maggie's point of view. I hope there are more books featuring Maggie and Scott.
review 2: I picked up this book thinking it was going to be an Elvis Cole book, so I didn't even read the flyleaf. By Chapter 4, I was feeling let down that this was a book about a one-off character named Scott James a newly minted K-9 officer and his dog Maggie. I kept reading because I have never read a Robert Crais book I didn't like and by
