review 1: I'm kind of disappointed. On one hand, I like that the ending wasn't something I expected. On the other hand, I don't really like the ending. *some spoilers ahead*It's certainly an interesting take, in that rather than kill Negan, Rick and co. are going to start over and do things better/more civilized than Negan did them. But after everything he did, after all the times he proved himself to be absolutely insane, I just find it hard to believe that they would keep him alive. There's always the risk that he could escape jail and exact vengeance on (a few) people while they sleep or something.I'm also kind of put off by Negan post-Rick's-"we-can-do-this-together" speech. He seems out of character, like a completely different person, almost reasonable. When, in all of Negan's ... morestoryline, has he seemed like a reasonable person? Even when he outright said he was a reasonable person, I never actually believed him - I always felt like he was saying whatever he thought would get him what he wanted. And again, I find it really hard to believe that Negan hadn't thought of what Rick said, prior to the speech.I really like these comics, but I'm feeling kind of let down by the last couple of issues and how things are being resolved.
review 2: This issue was kind of a letdown. It doesn't really stand out as this amazing game changer in the universe. With such a huge lead up and them continuously saying how this was the big change coming in the world I was so excited for what this was going to bring but I just felt let down.Don't get me wrong I can see how it's a "game changer" but at the same time they've done some fairly similar stuff over the run of this series so unless it actually sticks this time it's just another issue really. Maybe at the end of this year I'll look back and say "Yes #126 was when it all changed" but right now I don't have that feeling. With such a big lead up I was expecting a huge twist or "HOLY FUCK" moment which just didn't happen. Also is it just me or can other people see how this series could now be wrapped up instead of continuing on for another 10 years. I mean, really, how much more story is there to tell with these characters? less
