review 1: A worthy end for the dragon chronicles. I really enjoyed reading this, after the third book had been a slight disappointment. It lacked a more subtle baddy, the Duke was insanely, archetypically evil and I like how Robin Hobb makes the characters have depth, so I missed that, but Hest's return made up for that a bit. This is going to be re-read numerous times down the years, just like the other Six duchies/live ship books.
review 2: Very successful end to a series that was inexorably slow through. As usual Robin Hobb creates a wonderful otherworld - or better yet - has continued within the Farseer universe - and she creates great fully realized characters, with a pointed interest in gay relationships. How can dragons be bad? The third book was barely readable,
... more but I still couldn't resist the last book. Glad I read it. Very satisfying. less
