review 1: A quick, spicy read that begins an elopement to Gretna Green with the wrong intended bride. Fully as grubby as getting married in a smithy sounds, Belle is desperate to marry one of the few remaining eligible men in her rural area whose intent was to save her older and more docile sister from marriage to a much older man. When the mistake is discovered, Sebastian makes it clear the marriage will be annulled. A carriage accident on the way home gravely harming Belle makes him cry off the annulment in case she needs his care. However, he is forced to by abroad by her father and only returns six years later to find Belle is now a beautiful young woman with the shadow of a scandal in her past that limits her marital prospects. He intends to help her find a match, and then go t... morehrough with the annulment. Naturally, he begins to fall for Belle after climbing in and out of her bed chamber to teach her how to flirt and other possible physical pleasures with the woman who is still his wife. Of course you know the ending. Giles, his brain-damaged, friend is an interesting character that hopefully will show up in other books in this series. I do have a cover quibble: though beautiful and striking, no woman ever wore that very modern dress in 1818 when gowns still fell straight from the bodice and skirts were becoming only slightly more full.
review 2: I just love Rose Gordon. I have read almost everything she has written. This book is cute since Sebastian accidently crawls into the wrong window and the wrong sister elopes with him. Too funny, but there both young!!! Know 6 yrs later think she is no longer married Belle tries to find a husband then in walks her supposed EX and says he will help her fnd a husband!! Yeah, right!!! Just so happens Sabastisn actually falls in love with his wife and wants to try a win her love. You have 2 teenagers running to Greta Green, a carriage accident, 2 fathers that don't want them married a supposed annulment that never happened and 2 other guys vieing for a Belles hand. A great book with a wonderful ending!!! less

This was a cute book. There's nothing like proving someone wrong in the end.

Not as good as some of her books. A bit boring in places?
