review 1: This is book six in the Bullet Catcher series, and book three in the Eileen Stafford trilogy. This is the story of the Bullet Catchers owner Lucy Sharpe and disgraced ex-bullet catcher Jack Culver. Jack and Lucy shared a night together just before Jack nearly killed a fellow bullet catcher due to an injury he covered up. Lucy ejected him from her company and her life. He hit the bottle hard after this and is now trying to prove he's not the same man he was. He brought a case to Lucy in book four, and this book is the conclusion. Lucy and Jack believe they know who really killed the legal secretary, a crime for which Eileen has been in jail for for the past 30 years. They devise a plan to get on the inside, and in doing so rekindle their relationship and find the fin... moreal triplet daughter. All is not as it seems though as they uncover the real murderer and fight for their lives and others in the process.I felt really sorry for Jack. He made one mistake and has to prove himself over and over again to Lucy before she realises that he really is a trustworthy man. I was glad to hear the history behind Lucy, after all the hints dropped in the first five books.I really though Dan and Lucy would get together as they seemed like a great match. I wonder if the author was going to put them together and then changed her mind, or if she planned for Jack all along.
review 2: I guess Roxanne St. Claire lives by the old adage 'save the best for last' because -- HOLY CRAP! -- the final book, "Now You Die", in her trilogy within the "Bullet Catchers" series was freakin' awesome!!! Not only do we get closure to the Eileen Stafford case, but we also get to see a realistic and terribly romantic relationship between two imperfect yet likable people. (Kudos to Ms. St. Claire for not relying on the perfect-man-meets-average-woman-and-falls-in-love or good-girl-meets-bad-boy-and-brings-out-his-sensitive-side scenarios...even though I enjoy those, too.) Quite simply, I couldn't put the darn thing down. This story entangles Jack Culver with the Bullet Catchers (whom he used to work for before accidentally shooting one of them while on a mission gone awry) after pleading his case to Lucy Sharpe, the head of the Bullet Catchers with whom Jack had a one night stand. Still on tenuous ground with Lucy, Jack must fight his demons and earn her trust in order to obtain her help and eventually win her heart. With so many twists and turns in the gripping case and such a heartrending turned heartwarming relationship between the two, I couldn't help but cheer out loud. There was also an interesting theme of revenge verses justice and vigilantism that really made you think. The perfect blend of suspense, intrigue and romance. Truly uplifting and absolutely wonderful!!! less
