review 1: I just couldn't get into this book at all. It's very biblical and dark. Plus, every other chapter is written in the voice of an illiterate kid and I hate reading phonetically spelled writing. By page 39 I decided to skip to the end and see if it was any good. I found it written in the dumb kid voice also, closed the book and called it a day. If anyone is looking for a copy, I'm planning on leaving it at a random cafe in the Springfield, MO area.
review 2: I enjoyed this one. There are four main characters, a father and his three children, and the narration alternates between the father and the two eldest children. Each character had a distinctive voice. The world has flooded, and the father has managed to save his children, although his wife perished along the
... moreway. He is trying to protect his children, and believes they are the only people left in the entire world. All is peaceful until one day the father spots a man at sea headed toward their island. Then their world begins to change and secrets are revealed. less
