review 1: This is a strange book. I've finished it and I still can't really wrap my head around what actually happened. A part of me wants to immediately read it again, but I'm still trying to process it. For all it's strangeness, there was a lot of James's thoughts that I could relate to and while his process for finding out the truth drove me crazy at times, I could understand it. Memory is a strange thing... Overall I did like this book more than I thought I would, but I just wish I could verbalize what it was really about.
review 2: I tried really, really hard to like this book, but it is woefully mediocre with some moments that shine. Hopefully, his later novels were better. This one is about a guy who has a 3-year memory gap that has something to do with a suicide
... more(or murder?), his friends, a mysterious house, etc., etc. Formulaic and not terrible well-written. You can probably figure out the "twist" about 50 pages in. Banal resolution and a tad confusing. less

Never finished. Really interesting and then really dull. Should give it another shot at some point.

Existentialist mystery about a guy exactly my age (you'll have to read it to find out)

Finished this at some point but don't remember how it ended . . . Great cover.
