review 1: Yavana Rani was the first historial fictional work I had ever read in Tamil. At first, I was very much scared that I might not be able to finish it because I hated too much description in any novels and especially after my dad warned me of the same in this book too but I must thank Sandilyan for changing my taste. Ofcourse the book was too much descriptive but every word written was underlined by his extraordinary imagination which made me live at the periods of the Cholas. He was one of the best. And I would never forget Yavana Rani... !!!She is the best!!!
review 2: This is a historical novel in Tamil by Sri. Sandilyan. The story is based in a historical background when the Chola king Karikalan was trying to ascend the throne after the murder of his father Ki
... moreng Ilanchetchenni. The story line is spun around a chieftain named ilanchezhian and a Roman princess sent by the Roman king to take over the Tamil country under the confusing political situation arising after the death of Ilanchtchenni. Tiberius, a semi-historic warrior of Roman empire plays a part in this Novel as an aide to the Roman princess. The way the author takes the story in an interesting story-telling tact keeps us feeling that it was really a part of history and not a fiction less
