After reading the first book in this series, I practically pounced on the chance to read Ivak’s story.The deadly angels series takes place in contemporary times, but each prologue takes us back to Viking times where we get a glimpse into the Vikings lives. Each of them are guilty of one of the seven deadly sins. Ivak’s deadly sin is Lust. Because of his lust, Michael the Archangel has made it so that Ivak, as well as the rest of his brothers, are stuck in a sort of penance for their sins.Fast forward a few thousand years and Ivak is living in his own personal hell. He’s surrounded by men. Literally. ... moreHe works at Angola prison and doesn’t see the humor in the fact that there aren’t any women anywhere.Enter in Gabrielle- beautiful lawyer who’s trying to get her wrongly convicted brother out of prison.Ivak has problems of his own, he’s trying to do a talent show in order to raise money for the prison, in the middle of trying to convince Gabrielle’s brother…she shows up, with a few other hilarious characters and the rest is history. The minute they lay eyes on one another a flicker of electricity zaps through the air. As a reader and a fan of this series, you have to laugh at Ivak’s “aw crap” attitude. He knows he’s just seen his soul mate, but it’s impossible to stop it. The only fear he has, is will it be lust, or love?I LOVED Ivaks character. Being a Viking, he was always so self assured and matter of fact. He was super protective of Gabrielle and I appreciated that although his sin was lust, he really practiced a lot of self control!!The story line was very tight. The book could have ended 3/4 of the way through because everything was basically wrapped up quite nicely.Sandra Hill’s writing gets better with every single book I read. I strongly recommend this one if you like paranormal books chuck full of humor!There are a few graphic sex scenes and swearing.
review 2: Ivak is one of the Vangels in the Deadly Angels series by this author. Ivak is sent to Angola prison in Louisiana to "save" one of the inmate. When he mets his sister, he feels an instant connection. Gabrielle is a lawyer who has spend her life attempting to get her brother out of prison for a crime that he did not commit. She mets Ivak there in his role as the prison's "spiritual advisor". Ivak is set with the task of putting on a talent show at the famous Angola's rodeo event. The plot is funny and quirky with a return of a previous character from the Cajun Ledeux family, Tante Lulu. less
