review 1: The book is a romance -- not great literature, but altogether satisfactory beach reading. There are two stories, apparently unrelated and the reader is left guessing at how they will eventually prove to be one story. Not everyone turns out to be who they seem to be, which causes interesting shifts in interpersonal relationships. And of course, in the end, love triumphs after all the hurdles have been laboriously crossed or moved out of the way.
review 2: Santa Montefiore has captured my soul with a few books so far and not least, this one too. I felt that some parts of the story were a little weak at times - I wanted to feel more devastated about the lost relationships both romantically and between the main character and her step children. But the author didn
... more't quite build that bit up so much. However the story was enough to keep the whole thing going nice and strongly, and keep me hooked right up until the end. less

Beware, this is the same book as "The House by the Sea", just with a different title.
