review 1: I liked Evenfall Vol. 2 Director's Cut slightly less than I liked Vol. 1. So far best thing about the series are the main characters - Sin and Boyd. I don't find them particularly realistic but I like them a lot nonetheless. Their relationship was quite well done. This was a very engaging read despite the improbable storyline and the sparse world building. Normally, I don't expect much in the way of verisimilitude when it comes to secret or whatever agents in my romances so I don't gt annoyed when things don't entirely make sense. The great thing of this series was that it kept me on edge and I was so involved with it I couldn't put it down. I'm a bit wary about the next installment as I found the original, unedited version harder to read. Still, I can't wait to s... moretart!
review 2: Other than a slight lull a third of the way through, most of it is pretty fast-paced (side note: the mental torture scene was verrrry Clockwork Orange to me). I liked it and it was nice to see the changes in both Sin and Boyd from how they were in the beginning. I liked that they bring out the best in one another (and that Sin purposely needles Boyd because of how amusing he finds it). The only complaint I have about the both of them and the writing (which is, by the way, a vast improvement over the beginning and the stiff, info-dumping dialogue) is that I found that, for my tastes, the more intimate scenes were a little too crude. I also thought that there were way more many than I expected, and in such quick succession, too.I'm probably going to end up wait for the other Director's Cut versions and though I'm interested to see where it's headed. I already have my suspicions about certain things and I'm way too anxious to see how it all plays out. I hope certain characters will be sticking around (rather than being sacrificed) because I found their introductions to be intriguing.Oh, and I thought I addition of the lines in Spanish was a nice touch. The only drawback I found, though, was that I didn't notice the Appendix until I was done with the book. So, for some of the book, I was copying and pasting lines into Google Translator and trying to get the gist of what was being said. After a while I got kind of annoyed and just ended up skipping dialogue.(And a mistake I caught: pg 97-98 mentions "met Boyd's amber eyes" but his eyes are supposed to be blue at this point!) less
