review 1: I loved the idea of this book, but quickly lost interest. I disliked the constant use of "teen" lingo, simply because actual teens don't think/talk like Icie or Lola. The other POV's are interesting, and while I liked the use of old lingo for things the constant use of things like "cheerleaders" and "rockstars" ended up getting annoying and a bit stupid. But again, I liked the gist of the books, it was just off target

Here's my review on Amazon minutes after I put it down "It is one in the morning, I have just finished reading Half Lives and I am so in the grip of this story's spell that I've just got to write this review NOW. I urgently need to tell the world how stunned l am by this feat of writing, how it bound me up in its threads an... mored didn't let go. The meticulous plotting of its jigsaw, with each piece falling into place in immensely satisfying twists and turns is just BREATHTAKING. Sara Grant's construction of her future world is audacious and at times laugh out loud funny ... but I do not want to risk spoiling anyone's enjoyment by saying too much. Just go, read, allow yourself to be immersed. As an author, I read incessantly to the point of cynicism - and dystopian fiction isn't my thing. And yet I've fallen hard ... something I haven't done in a long, long time. Sara Grant deserves the highest praise for this achievement." less
