review 1: I love this series, however I was not that happy that Rafael Albequre (sp?) had not done most of the artwork for this set of novels. I loved the way that the characters were portrayed, and the death of Skinner Sweet (though, since the series is focused on him and there are at least 3 more books it is hard to believe he has really been killed) was an interesting story. I just felt that they had started to add too many characters and story lines. I kept wanted to find out what was happening with Pearl and Sweet, the Book family. I will still read this series, I am just hoping they start melding the stories back together. Also I hope they find guest artists who have similar style (it is jarring to change artwork half way through a book).
review 2: Definitely one of
... more my favorites in the series so far, Vol. 3 follows Pearl and Henry for the first half and then brings us back to Felicia Book and Cash McCogan for the second half. Henry signs up to join the fight in the Pacific and comes face to face with a new breed of vampire. And that breed was awesome! One of the things I love about this series is that the vampires differ from group to group and each has strengths and weaknesses that the others lack. I've always loved Pearl so it was great to see her continue to take part in the action. And seeing Felicia and Cash hunt Nazi vampires was awesome! I mean, how do you not love Nazi vampires? Definitely one I'd recommend if you like vampires and/or graphic novels! less

American Vampire goes to war. Some plotholes, but enjoyed this volume more than the previous one.
