review 1: I've read several reader reviews criticizing this book for what it's not: a continuation of the series' primary narrative. I think that complaint speaks to just how fucking good American Vampire is. I was delighted to read this compilation of short stories. Yes they are of varying quality, as some have pointed out here, but that is hardly a critique. Put any novels, movies, comics, or short stories together and they will be of varying quality just by virtue of the fact that they are in a group. If you set aside the hunger for more of AV's central plot, I think you will have a bloody good time with what's on the menu in Vol. 6.
review 2: I really like Scott Snyder's American Vampire series. The only reason this volume gets three stars only is because it's more o... moref half a volume only. The other half consists of short pieces done by various artists and writers. Never been much of a fan of such stuff. Somehow, every time I see that somewhere it looks to me like the writer of a comic series was out of ideas and tried to fill the gap somehow. less
