review 1: I think the 4 Disciplines are a solid way to implement strategy, and I do deeply appreciate that the book addresses the fact it's easier to have ideas than to execute them. There's lots and lots of solid advice in here. LOTS of it. I do struggle with the "public weigh in" aspect of WIG meetings. I think that's a personal issue- I believe very much in being accountable to your team, but I don't like the idea of shame as a way to motivate people (Oh, you missed your goals? Bad, bad, bad person!) That's just me, though.
review 2: Great book. 4DX provides a model for execution from the highest level of an organization down to the lowest level teams. It can be used to align entire organizations. It can also be used in a more "one-off" approach at the team level.
... more If the organization is "not ready", or chooses not to follow the model, individual teams can work it.The 4 Disciplines:1. Focus on the wildly important2. Act on leading measures3. Keep a compelling scoreboard4. Create a cadence of accountabilityThe model is "all good", but two aspects really stand out for me. First - focus on the wildly important. While this discipline may feel a bit like a repackaging of "don't multi-task", it's a bit different. This discipline says identify the MOST important, and give that your BEST focus. 4DX then provides a framework to get that focus, really so much so that you have no choice but to focus on that "wildly important" goal. The second component that really stands out for me is connecting that wildly important goal to leading measures. Many people talk about "leading measures", but those measures are not always the same as 4DX leading measures. In 4DX, a leading measure is a metric/measure tied to an action (or an activity or behavior) that someone does that helps achieve the wildly important goal (i.e., the lead is predictive of the goal). There's so much more to say, but there are plenty of other good review/summaries/videos out there. less

Very useful. You can make your strategy and plan happen. The method is simple but actionable.
