review 1: Audible offered this novella for free to members - Christmas in July.It was a perfectly predictable, but still fun read. Chloe arrives at her childhood home to housesit while her parents are on a cruise, only to find that the house's electrical system has finally kicked the bucket. She calls their electrician, Scott Quinn, to come in and save the day. He's had a crush on her since high school, even if she just barely remembers him. This time, though, sparks fly.The narrator wasn't great. Her male voices grated. This was probably the first genre romance that I've listened to (as opposed to just reading), but it wasn't graphic enough to make it awkward, so maybe it opens the door for me to listen to more romances.
review 2: For such a short novella, this on
... moree was quite enjoyable. In full disclosure, I did get this one free from my friends at Audible, so I figured, what the heck, why not give it a go. It was super cute! Odd reading/listening to something that takes place during the holidays when it's August and 100+ degrees, but it was a nice little escape. I'd definitely read something from this author again. The writing was good. Characters (especially for a short novella) were well executed...and heck, it even had a lovable dog in the story. It wasn't too trite. No eye rolls involved. Was really kinda cute. With the exception of Tiffany Reisz's short stories, I tend to be left wanting more. Not in this case. If you're looking for a quick and fun bedtime story with no commitment, here you go! less
