review 1: This is the Second book of the McLaughlin’s series. I loved the first book and had to read the next three books in this series.Hailey Alexander was best friends with Kenzie and Sarah but 11 years ago she made a decision that caused heartache for her friend. When she finally comes to make amends for her part in breaking Ian and Sarah apart, she also comes in contact with his twin brother, Colin, who does not forget nor will forgive Hailey.Deputy Colin McLaughlin, one year ago he was left at the altar and has no plans to a relationship or fall in love. When he keeps coming in contact with Hailey after all this time, they both cannot control their tempers or the passion that is burning below the surface for each other until it finally ignites. Unknown to each ... moreof them…they both desired one another back in high school. Now can he see there is more to Hailey than her family life she grew up in and the trouble she brought to his brother? When Hailey’s past comes to do harm, will she be able to admit her true feelings to Colin or will it be too late.I am looking forward to reading Kenzie's story with her personality it will be interesting what she will do to the man who finally breaks down all her walls to get to her heart.
review 2: Oh how I love these McLaughlin books!Yes, I'm biased, I am a friend of Shelli's, and I live on Whidbey Island, but I really do like these books!So. Colin and Hailey... Where to start. Colin is a good man, looking to settle down, with a big chip on his shoulder about Hailey. And his ex-fiancee, who left him at the alter. He has a attitude! And he's a cop, so that comes with the territory. Hailey has some family issues. Serious family issues! Her mother is a drug addict, and Hailey has fought to not follow down that path, and to keep her brother out of it as well. As a high school girl, she made a really bad decision, and took money to say she'd slept with Ian, (from book one in the series)to break him up from his then girl friend Sarah. The McLaughlin clan has been angry with Hailey ever since! It started to calm down in book one when we learn why Hailey did what she did, but Colin can't let it go. On to their story! Colin is a stubborn snot, Hailey is a proud girl. This makes for a wonderful, fun, hot story! Throw in a nasty ex-boyfriend of Hailey's, and Colin's interferring family, and you have a fabulous book. I've read a bunch of Shelli's books, certainly not all of them, but a good handful. I've liked them all, haven't disliked any, but these two are by far my favorite. Yes, I know, they are set on my island, but the writing in these is just excellent. I think she's really come in to her own as an author, and I am so proud of her! less
