review 1: I’ll admit it. This series isn't as great as Laurenston’s Pride series. However, this book is SO much better than the first book in this series. After reading the first book, I thought this one was going to be awful. It really isn't.I like crazy smart Miki in all her geekiness! This book has one of my favorite action sequences in all of the Mangus/Pride series. We’re introduced to Dr. Irene Conridge, who is married to Niles Van Holtz. This ties into the Pride series. I like having the background to all the side characters.
review 2: I really liked this story about Miki and her Viking. Miki is a great character - what's not to love about her. She speaks her mind (much to the chagrin of her two best friends) and she fights for those she loves. Conall aka th
... moree Viking has been holding back his true strength for ever and has finally found the one who can deal with it but can he deal with her smart mouth? He is not intimidated by her brain and she is not scared of his wolf. Could there be a better match??? less

Better than the first! There is a tendency to damsel-ize the non shifters in paranormals. I guess the most feminist of us has a secret minute desire to be protected (if and only if we chose to relinquish that control) so the big protector really appeals. But the h in this is bad-ass enough to make her way protecting herself and those around her. Makes it a kickass book, especially with the tendency to mouth off. Hilarious!

I don't like this series as well as the Pride but it's fun. Conall was great. Part of me doesn't understand why the women have to be so darn mean, especially to the guys they love, but at the same time, Shelly's characters are half insane and it's part of their charm. I do think this is a stronger entry than Pack Challenge, but I'd expect for Shelly to improve with each book so that's totally fine.
