review 1: I will be honest; I couldn't finish this book. I didn't really care for Law and Nia...and I wasn't sure why they fell in love (or lust). The previous book was a lot of slow-moving, tedious romance and little mystery. This book has more of a balance between those two elements, but it's still meh. The romance is a lot less developed and the mystery sort of hangs in the air like an unfinished sentence. The first book was a fun read, and I wish that the author had wrapped everything up in that particular book.
review 2: Outstanding! This is the best series I've read in quite some time. The locale, Ash Kentucky (fictional, but believable). The characters and the suspenseful plot all work together for a great reading experience. There are three sexy alpha heroes and ... morethree heroines who for the most part are all dealing with their own issues. There's Lena, who is blind. She awakens late one night to a woman's screams outside her home in the woods at the back of her place. Then their is Hope, who is running and hiding from an abusive ex husband who beat her so bad one night, he left her for dead. And finally there is Nia, whose sister was brutally raped and murdered in Ash. Throw in our sexy, brooding heroes, Ezra, Remy and Law and you've got three wonderful steamy tales of lust, love, romance, anger, revenge and terror. Oh and don't forget to add in small town USA's nosiness, where everybody knows everybody else's business. less
