review 1: Was not what I thought it would be.Nicely surprised a who-dun-it that leaves you with a good cliff-hanger The first story about blind chef Lena is the beginning of a mysterious story involving the disappearance and murder of a girl from another part of the country.Lena hears a scream in the night which is the start of the mystery. Trying to get the police to take her seriously (as of course she IS blind, so she must have made a mistake). It is also the love story between Lena and Ezra, a policeman on leave recovering from his injury and his partner's fatal shooting. Funny this is what I expected the storyline to centre around the romance, NOT the mystery but it is a combination of both and both are quite satisfactory. On to part 2
review 2: Considering the subje
... morect matter and the scenes from the victims' pov's, enjoyable is not precisely the word I want, but it was entertaining. The story lacked focus, probably because of the limited pov's from just about everyone, so I'm knocking down a star. I would have liked a resolution in this book and not to have it dragged out over the trilogy, but only because I wasn't expecting an epic. I'd rather the one killer though, than have each of the women be targeted by different killers (why is it always the women? I know that statistically, women are more likely to be targets, but it gives me the heebs to see it over and over in RS novels).I think that Lena's blindness was handled well, but I'm hardly the authority. She's a capable adult who happens to be blind, not an inspirational angel whose blindness is her one defining factor. less
