review 1: Well I read this for my own pleasure so I am gonna keep this short, this was a great book. More intrigue than I usually care for but well written enough that it kept my interest and keeps the reader on the edge while keeping the stress high. It is a question of will they get caught (nope not telling you what) and what will happen if they do, does the evil Queen have a plan to destroy the couple??Great stuff and well worth the reading but reading both of the first two books back to back would make it a bit more easy to read since there is a large cast of characters and reading them together would make the reading much easier.Bottom Line: I loved it and can't wait for the next 2 to finish the story off (well the next book is a novella and then the final book later this ... moreyear)
review 2: Lord of the Hunt is Shona Husk's second book in her exciting Annwyn Series and let me tell you, these are not your mother's fairies!! Winter is coming to Annwyn and with the winter comes death to mortal earth. Plagues, wars, droughts, famine, yep you guessed it life is going to get really bad unless winter can be stopped. The thing is even if it is stopped and the crown changes hands peacefully life on mortal earth is going to get tough for the faeries stuck there.Taryn might be faery but she was raised on mortal earth. Her father had been banished and her mother, a true and honest faery left the court with him. But now Mortal earth is getting to be a dangerous place for any fairies left so Taryn is sent to Annwyn to beg the King for her father's pardon. Allowing them to return to Annwyn and survive the change. Taryn is a lamb amongst wolves in the fairy court and everywhere she looks she sees foe not friend, until her eyes glance upon Verdon, Lord of the Hunt. Verdon, Lord of the Hunt has spent his entire life clawing his way to the top. He came from the outlying fairy farms and dreamt of something more. He dreamt of a life at court and managed to make it as the King's Lord of the Hunt. Playing a constantly precarious part for centuries, always loyal to the king until one naive fairy changes everything! While Verdon should be one of the wolves at Taryn's door he becomes the one person she can really count on, in secret that is. At court she must dance to the King's whim and avoid the Machiavellian machinations of the Queen. There is a fine line between succeeding and saving her parents and well, death. But each time these two meet in secret they risk everything.Ms Husk writes a deadly novel of desire.. with a real life wicked witch (queen) and her entire court. Everyone has an agenda and much like the royal courts of old, you can't trust anyone. I really enjoy Ms. Husk's style and creativity.. she makes a reader dream and that is such a gift she shares with us.. I am enjoying this series immensely and suggest you give them a try.ShauniThis review is based on the ARC of Lord of the Hunt provided by netgalley and is scheduled to be released on January 7, 2014 less

This book swept me away. A wonderful mix of fantasy, romance, and court intrigue.

I really dislike fairy court politics. Other than all that, it was a good story.
