review 1: I love the Disney movie "Labyrinth" that starred a very young Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie as the Goblin King. I was really interest in this book's storyline since it was so similar to that movie. Everything was going great until the middle of it where it just fizzled out for me due when the main male character, Roan, killed his brother in arms that been there since the beginning of the curse, several thousand years, because he turned into a full goblin who only wanted gold.
review 2: I loved this book! This is the first book I have ever read that was about goblins. I've read books that had goblins in them, in the vague bad guy army/not important second character, but never a book like this. Roan is the Goblin King, cursed by a Druid two thousand years ago... more for a crime he never committed. Cursed with him were five of his men, all left in a nightmare realm to slowly succumb to the seductive voice of gold. The only thing a goblin ever truly loves.Eliza is a human who once summoned Roan to help her. Now, she needs his help again but this time the price for his help is more then just a case of beer with a thank you on it. This time, the Goblin King demands that she be his queen. He is handsome in his human form but his goblin skin leaves her shaking in fear. Can Eliza learn to care for Roan before his time is up? Or will she let her fear doom the long cursed king? less
