review 1: While this novel entertained me for a day or so, it required no effort on my part and was disappointingly superficial. As it says in the blurb Chloe believes she has escaped an abductor but is unable to convince anyone else that this is the case. Sadly the culprit is clear from the off. I kept hoping there would be some dramatic twist at the end, but it was not to be and the story unfurled itself in a very predictable manner which made any sense of suspense or mystery impossible. There were some very thin scenarios in there too: the unavailable girlfriend, the impossibly unsympathetic employer. Not to mention the disappearing sleeping tablets which were given entirely unwarranted importance. Just an average read.
review 2: I thought this story had an intr... moreiguing set up, with the main character not sure whether she can rely on her own memories. Is she the victim of a crime, or is it all in her mind? However as it went on I found it to be disappointing and very predictable thriller. For example the murderer conveniently explains their motives as they are about to commit their final dastardly deed. Even the structure of the book didn't quite work for me, with the main character's best friend being constantly referred to but never making an appearance in the story. The alternate love interest just felt forced. less
