review 1: This was an irritating book for all of the wrong reasons. I don't mind that it's basically three different stories smooshed together to make a novel. I don't mind that people come back and people die. I don't mind that a magical whatsit shows up at the very end.SpoilersI loved how Tommy came back. I was a fan of Tommy and I'm so happy they found a way to bring him back. I hated what happened to Henry and Mark. Frankly, Walker going mad and killing his best friend was so completely out of character that I nearly gave up on the book to just start the next one. Then, the entire trying to take over John's mind? Oh please.This really had a "dialing it in" feel to it, which is unfortunate because the elf, drag queen superhero, and pink car chase across the Nightside, along with ... moreTommy, would have made a great book all on its own.
review 2: I finished reading "The Good, the Bad, and the Uncanny” by Simon R. Green and I absolutely loved it! The tenth novel in the highly-acclaimed Nightside Series tied up some loose ends left unraveled from the previous novels, including a significant character twist that I hadn’t seen coming. Honestly, I was surprised and found myself saying, “Really?! Whoa…” I highly recommend this series for anyone who values well-written story lines and satisfying character development. Most of all, these novels are so darned fun to read!On to book #11… less
