review 1: I don't know that I've ever given a book 2 stars on here, I usually stop reading if I disliked it that much. The story was, I guess, o.k. enough to actually forge my way to the end, but it was painful. I was in the mood for a good thriller/mystery and this one had great reviews on a Goodreads list. There was a lot of information about snakes that I found incredibly boring. I guess if I was really scared of snakes, this might be considered a thriller, but they don't bother me that much. If it was spiders on the other hand....The story was disjointed for me, there was a couple of times I couldn't figure out how the main character got to certain places or why she was there. So, if anyone has any suggestions for an actual thriller/mystery, I will take ... morethem!
review 2: This is my fifth SJ Bolton novel and the fifth SJ Bolton novel that I haven't been able to put down until the very end. What more do you want in a mystery novel anyway? Ok, so this wasn't as gruesome as some of the other ones, but on the other hand, the whole "town run over by huge snakes" is creepy enough as it is, so I felt no need for more of that. I liked Clara too, SJ Bolton has a knack for writing female characters that are flawed but also strong without turning them into Mary Sues. less

Odd and somewhat farfetched premise in this one, but handled with style and suspense.
