review 1: For some silly reason I'd totally forgotten about this series - what was I thinking? Not thinking is more like it. You can probably read this as a standalone but I wouldn't recommend it because these are pretty much written as a serial. This one picks up immediately after leaving Erin and Blake declaring their love for each other in Beauty Touched the Beast (Beauty #1). In this novella, Blake gets a chance to come out of his self induced hibernation and go back into the public eye. He's been offered a position as an associate professor at the same college where graduate school student Erin is in her last semester. The conflict is small in scope but it's a big deal in light of the focus that Erin has put into her eduction; it could significantly change not only her future ... morecareer plans it can also put a dent in the burgeoning and fragile relationship with Blake. We get to peak a bit more I the minds of both and bedrooms (smexy times) of these characters and I liked what I read. Neither Erin nor Blake are unrealistic in their expectations of the other. Erin is emotionally very typical of her age group, not to say that she's immature and childish but she has a fair amount of angst about where she's from and how that compares to Blake's background. For me that was not only understandable but credible considering the age difference of these two - there's only about a 10 difference but when you're in college 10 years is a long way off. Happy Reading Folks!Rating: B
review 2: Beneath the Beauty is the second book in the Beauty Series which continues the story of Blake (the scarred war veteran) and Erin (his younger, hot housekeeper).Pros: A little more background information is given this time around. The plot thickens as real life and past relationships come into the picture. A nice teacher/student scene.Cons: The characters remained awkward in this book as well. I would have liked there to be more steamy scenes, but it seemed like this book was more for filling in the missing info from the first story. Missing sexual tension.Verdict: I enjoyed reading about how Blake and Erin ended up so self conscious but it ended up being more of a love story than a sexual story like the first one was. Both stories need a lot more in the sexual tension department in my opinion. less

The second book in the Beauty series, loved it the very sexy retelling of The beauty and the beast.

An easy read, but it was so much less satisfying compared to Warren' s dark erotica.
