review 1: Librarian Kathleen is not going to meddle in another of her boyfriend Marcus' investigations, even when a woman mysteriously dies of an allergic reaction at the big library fundraiser. But it seems like everyone in town wants her to clear someone, or discover the truth for some other reason. Even her two cats--feral rescues, who seem to have unusual powers--push her toward an investigation. There won't be enough about the cats for lovers of the earlier books.
review 2: 3.5 stars. I love this series, but this book felt a bit unfocused. A lot of names get thrown out in the beginning as a setup to a party that everyone attends, but it was a bit too much and I spent most of the book trying to remember who everyone was. The problem for me early on was that too
... more many of the people were mentioned in the course of Kathleen's everyday life, but they were not really there in support of the plot so they were a bit immemorable. There was a bit of meandering and repetition for the first half of the book before it became the feline driven mystery that I have grown to love and have come to expect. The plot still felt a bit forced, though, and I wish the cat colony rescue story had been a bit more flushed out. less

I love the library and town in this series, but wish the cats had had a bigger role in this one.
