review 1: I read this book for an online book club. I very much enjoyed the story and characters. I wasn't sure I would enjoy the magical cats aspect, but that aspect was subtle and proved more interesting than expected. It did make me think that I'm glad my cats are not magical. :) I hope this author writes another in this series, I'd like to see how the characters develop and continue to interact with each other. The mystery was interesting and not obvious. Very enjoyable.
review 2: Enjoyable Cozy mystery. I listened to this through audible. I appreciated that all of the characters seemed like real people you would meet in any town. I made several guesses as to "who done it", but didn't know until the final reveal, which is always fun. The fantastical cats a... morend their special powers were a fun addition, and I didn't feel as if their place in the story was overwhelming. It appears there may be a budding romance, but it didn't distract from the mystery or feel forced, so I look forward to the relationship evolving.I will be starting the next audiobook now and look forward to getting to know more about the characters in town. Since this was an audiobook I will mention that I found the reader acceptable. There are times when they can make or break the story through their inability to read English, or they can bring the characters to life with their inflection and voice portrayals. Since I wasn't constantly focused on poor pronunciation or bad voices I was able to focus on the story which made it more enjoyableIf you enjoy other cozy mysteries by Bailey Cates, Cleo Coyle, or Rhys Bowen you may want to try Curiosity Thrilled the Cat. less
