review 1: Up All Night in Bliss gives us an update into the characters from Book 2. Callie, Nate & Zane are all back again, the only difference is, now they have twin boys. Callie is feeling overweight, tired, and not in any way attractive. Which is understandable, I believe most new mothers feel this way at some point. Callie thinks that Nate & Zane don't want to touch her as a woman, and only see her as a mother now. Zane and Nate get some advice from their friends and decide to take back their woman. Let the hot sex resume! I really enjoyed reliving these characters and can't wait to read the next installment into the Bliss series.
review 2: I understand that this book is part of a series and while I thought this was the first, it isn't. As such I had trouble kno
... morewing who was who and what the relationships between the characters are. However, that is not the reason why I only give this book 2 starts.Cringing, almost hoping that the author will never read this, I want to say beforehand that writing a story, any story, is a gift to humanity and I applaud Sophie Oak for writing this and other stories. However, I am simply a picky reader and even if it's just smut I read, I want the story be somewhat believable. Up All Night in Bliss builds up for 80% of the short story, and I was glowing with anticipation. The build-up was magnificent, even though I feel that the dialog could've been stronger at points. It's a bit too much of a coincidence that the three main characters get the same advice on the same day, I think. One getting the advice and relaying it to the other(s) would've been stronger in my point of view. But again: I am a picky reader, especially when it comes to dialog. The actual romance happens in roughly 5 pages and is so hastily written it doesn't do justice to the characters of the story. It's not that I don't like explicit smut (I don't care for it much, but that's not the reason I disliked it), but a story building up for 80% of the time and then resolving in 5... I thought the author could've gotten so much more out of this story! The reconnection, what the three are longing for so badly, was crammed into 3 lines of dialog and to me it was tell, don't show than the other way around. My advice to the author is to give these characters the space they deserve. Reconnection goes through touch and intimacy. Whether that takes place before or after the sex, I don't care. But the story is asking for more time to resolve itself, especially if 80% is building up to that climax, which sadly felt anticlimactic to me. Maybe these stories are just not my kind, but that's okay. less
