review 1: I have to own up to the fact that I read the first Liz Carlyle story because I was planning to use an MI6 character in one of my own novels and I thought reading one by the ex-head of MI5 might give me some insight into the workings of the Secret Service. I wasn't over impressed, but continued to read the rest in this series. However, Stella Rimington's technique has improved and I quite enjoyed this. It's hardly a roller-coaster but a pleasant read nonetheless.
review 2: I picked up this book believing it was a non-fiction about pirates. Alas, I was mistaken, but quite enthralled. A story with the lead character being a female MI5 agent, written by an author who was once an MI5 agent. Tremendous! This novel was a great read; like Vince Flynn meets John Grisham
... more with a feminine kick to it. Unfortunately, I have started with book #6, so I will have to start from the beginning now. less
