review 1: I liked the characters, and it is an action-packed continuation of the Black Cobra series. But I felt like I was trudging along with the hero and heroine every step of the way in real time, fighting off cultists at every turn. I was sooo ready to get to the end of this book! It just seemed like it took forever to get there. The first book in the series did not drag like this, and hopefully the rest of the Black Cobra books will move along more quickly.
review 2: Review taken from my Blog back in September 2010:The first in the Black Cobra Quartet, and what a read .... I thoroughly enjoyed it ~other than the about the first chapter which was a bit diffcult going.Emily Enworth Niece of the Governor of Bombay has to unexpectedly ride for her life when one of her m
... moreilitary escorts it seems is carrying vital information about the Black Cobra and his cult. Capital Macfarlane elects to stand and fight it out with the cultists and Emily does her duty and get the information back to the barracks in Bombay. Here she meets Garath Hamilton, a colleague of Macfarlanes, and the dangerous and thrilling journey back to England begins for both of them. With lots of steam and indecision about whether they were made for each other along the way.I love the way all of her books inter-mingle and the plots run along side each other, but it really doesn't matter in what order you read them. Actually, they would be perfect for a set of films.Lots of twists and turns in the plot, as well as their journey - 9.5 out of ten. less
